Prayer for St Ebbe’s in 2024

Our loving Heavenly Father,

Please so work in us by your Holy Spirit at St Ebbe’s that our lives together would be worthy of the gospel of Christ.

May our hearts be filled with gospel passion. 

Keep us always delighting in our salvation, as we remember the horror of our sin and the wonder of your mercy. 
May the idols and sins that threaten to grip us become increasingly distasteful, as we are filled with an ever deeper sense of your glory and grace. 
Help us so to grow in loving intimacy with you, that the cry, ‘Abba Father,’ is not just a faint echo in our hearts, but a life-transforming passionate conviction. 

May our life together exhibit gospel community. 

Transform us into the likeness of Christ, as we exhort one another to live by faith moment by moment, resisting sin and pursuing holiness. 
Give us such a love for one another, so that we live as one family, welcoming the newcomer, strengthening the weak and caring for the needy. 
Have mercy on the Church of England and provide a way for the apostolic faith to be maintained within it, with integrity, for generations to come. 

May our impact in the world result in fruitful gospel witness. 

Strengthen our confidence in the power of the gospel to save, our persistence in prayer and our courage to speak. 
May many in our local community and city be drawn to you as they see something of your life-giving, compassionate love, both in what we say and in how we live. 
Prepare the way for our next church plant and continue to send out from among us workers for your harvest field, nearby and throughout the world. 

We ask all these things through your Son Jesus Christ and for the glory of your name, Amen
